rimishna manandhar - 21st feb 2019 ppt_Side_16_Bilde_0001.png

We have 4 scholarships for ID in 2024!

Here are some topics suggested by our friends from IOE (Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu) in Nepal, with whom we conduct the student exchange in the SAMAJ project for short term and long term student exchange from NTNU to IOE.

NTNU (ID) students can either go on short term (3 - 4 weeks) or (ID and UEP) long term (3 months) to Nepal and write a PD9 article, a PD9 project report (ID) or both, or a Master thesis on one of these topics (ID and UEP). They will get a supervisor from IOE and will work together with Nepali students with the same topic.  NTNU students get a scholarship and a flight ticket t/r fNorway-Nepal from the project.

Some areas (suitable for service design, interaction design, particpatory design, and product design)

  • Sustainable building technology for rural settings. E.g. Substitution of high carbon materials like steel and cement with low carbon local materials like timber, bamboo and stone (also for UEP students).

  • Enhancing thermal comfort. This may include residences as well as tourist accommodation (also for UEP students).

  • Sustainable hill transportation including roads (also for UEP students).

  • Sustainable Tourism infrastructure.

  • Natural/green products based on local agriculture, husbandry and forestry.

  • Rural settlement planning. Including transitions from rural to small urban settlements (also for UEP students).

  • E-health and m-health, service design and particpatory design

  • Use of AI, IOT for rural agriculture.
